1:20 Tape measures have the distance of the body on it for measuring inside corners and such. Don't need to bend the tape, just take the reading and add the length of the body (usually 3 inches or about 7.5 cm)

@sky stormin ... If you are asking about the Tape measure with the window in the top for inside measurements it may depend on what country you live. The one I have is from Stanley. It is a bit different these days but I have seen it by Amazon under the name Stanly Powerlock. You may have to search as there are a number of different ones that have no window under the same name. I should add that I have never seen one longer than 5 meters though.

I liked that too. Another trick I've used is make a small mark away from the wall and measure from one side of the wall to the mark and then from the other side of the wall to that mark and add up both measurements for total length. Can use tape if its an area where a mark shouldn't be made.

As far as the accurate tape measuring goes, you can simply measure with the back of the tape measure sitting up against what your trying to measure as most [if not all] have a measurement written on the back of the tape measure [which is the length of the tape], making it easy as you simply add the length of the tape to your measurement.. feel like that's easier then carrying around cards and paper clips 👀👀

Some water would leak underneath the gutter connector at 6:05 where 2 larger pieces meet and get worse over time as the pieces shift slightly over time. Maybe it’ll be fine as long as the connection point isn’t over a walkway. I wonder if a strip of 3M VHB foam tape would work well as a safeguard. It seems like it would hold better than paint.

On the ceiling patch , bevel the edges before fitting to the ceiling , but also reverse the angle inwards , then when you squeeze in the filler most of it will be trapped by the reverse angle, and even if it cracks in time, it will be very unlikely for any large pieces to fall out.

    • Jeff77398

      Jeff77398

      3 mesi fa

Nah don't bevel. You wanna take a reciprocating saw and cut through the patch you just installed. Then take some wood putty and mix with wood saw dust, pour in a glass of milk and voila! You made chocolate milk.

Using pipes as rollers to move a heavy object. As a mechanic we did something similar to protect the asphalt driveway from the tracks of a large bulldozer using old truck tires to create a heavy rubber pad under the tracks to prevent the large traction ridges from digging into the asphalt and tearing it up.

My son came up with a simple aka genius solution when I got my truck stuck going over an old stump on an uneven dirt road in a forest that was just lumbered. Anyone was free to come grab leftover hardwood branches and pieces for winter firewood, and right in the middle of it, one stump was angled just enough that I was airborne on two wheels all of a sudden.
So my oldest son took the chainsaw, found two large stumps in the field, and cut big angled wedges. Forget what they're called - biscuits, pancakes, something. He put them under my tires. As I moved forward on them the truck lifted off the stump and over it! Free! Phew! I never would have thought of doing that. I would've started on a long walk to the nearest phone for an expensive tow lift. Those wedges went with me n the kids on every wood haul!

Somewhat similar event occurred with a friends VW transporter, took a while due to high grass and bushes around to figure out that the culprit was a tree stump. No tools at hand, after quite some thinking and pulling grass away and using a knife to chop branches aside, crawling underneath to feel the stump in the end, it was bricks which saved the day, just jimmying back and forth slightly to raise her up and turn off the stump... bricks which I carry with me for making make-shift bbq stand while out vanning, so bricks always go with me now, but wedges or biscuits is a great idea also, lighter too!

I imagine I’m not the only person who had this thought while watching this video but I found the white text describing how the individual hacks work to be pretty small and hard to read. Not very helpful to have small text in a hack video. Though it might look a bit bigger on a full size screen compared to an iPhone 7 screen, but that’s not my point. There were some pretty neat hacks in the video though, I plan to try them sometime soon 😁
